Heather and Dave were married May 1st on the beach. Saturday night they had a reception in Hendersonville to celebrate with those of us that couldn't go. What a great time we had!

Meet Isaace and Ty. This adds to my theory that I definetly photography more boys than girls...never fear though! After re-scheduling 3 times due to rain, I think the weather will co-operate enough to have our session with 2 small girls Thursday (and they have tutus) WOO-HOO!

I told Jenn's sister Meredith that I would give 1 MILLION dollars to have a shot like this of my boys. Its the illusive sibling shot.....it RARELY happens and this would be the first thing I would grab if I were in a fire.

Adorable Silas! I love 9 month pictures. 9 out of 10 times they just sit there and all you have to do is dance around or coo at them and they are very attentive. Silas is no different. He is such a sweet little boy and I really enjoy every time I see him. His mom Brandi really likes when I add a different editing touch to his pictures so here are some colors I am experimenting with. Thanks again Brandi! I can't Wait to see where he is in 3 months.

M&M boys

I have booked my week-ends until mid June so I am now adding Tuesday/Thursday's. They are booked now for April and most of May. I have booked a wedding this week and have 3 more coming up. Things.are.crazy which means less blogging, sorry.

I felt REALLY guilty for doing a day full of spring pictures but took NONE of my boys so here are some we snapped in a field on the side of the road on Highway 70. Sometimes you have to be resourceful.

I think we are seeing a pattern.

Spring Pictures

We had a beautiful day for pictures Saturday. The chickens, bunnies, Melissa, and I worked our tails off taking pics from 10:30 until 5:45. We forgot to schedule a lunch so we were starving! It was a lot of fun to work with Melissa, the kids, and the animals (especially since Melissa didn't make me touch them)....I can't believe I was raised on a farm. Here are some I have been working on.

Petty Family

Here are some pictures from my Sunday session with the Petty Family. Cage is 6 months now and just the cutest and happiest little boy! We had fun and I always enjoy seeing Leigh. She is a very easy going mom and that makes my job a little easier!

I gotta have an old antique car. It is great for keeping kids occupied and makes for the sweetest/happiest pictures. This is the 2nd week in a row I have used a car and I am hooked.

Cookeville

We had a fun time in Cookeville. I did some pics for Bella's birthday invitation and since her mom bought the ENTIRE line to matilda jane (lol) we will do some more when the weather gets warmer and it not quite so hectic. I LOVE BELLA and all her spunkiness, she is the best niece an aunt can have!

I also did Cole's 9 month pics. I did his 3 month, 6 month, and then some Christmas pics with his grandad and all the grand kids. His growing so fast and is SO laid back and happy (Shann...try to hold off cutting that hair, its too cute)! I REALLY need this fire truck and thanks Beth for letting us use it!!

Catching up

Life throws curve balls sometimes. My mom fell and broke her hip. Who would have thought that? Maddox's fevers were only 20 days apart this time, and now I am getting sick. Needless to say I have neglected the blog. I have still been doing pics but just not sharing them. I have done 2 engagement sessions lately and I will try to blog those by the week-end.

Now on to Whitney. A beautiful senior at MJHS who is very talented. She is a cheerleader, in the choir, drama, and plays the guitar. She also turned 18 today. These pics were meant to be done downtown but I wanted to stay in Lebanon in case my mom needed me closer. I LOVE the way they turned out....LOVE, LOVE! Here are just a FEW of my favorite....I have too many to share, they all turned out great!

This picture is my light workshop assignment 2. Full sun/noon. Now this assignment freaked me out! Full sun casts terrible shadows and makes the skin look so harsh. The ending result thought, turned out great! My teacher loved it and I am DARN proud of it too...

Finally....guess who has been taking pics for his bday invitation? Here is a hint....be still my heart, my baby is almost 4.

1st light assignment

My class has started. We are starting with using natural light by a window/door.

My first job was to blow out the background (white it out) and make a dramatic textured sillhouette of my subject...

My 2nd assignment was to use side to catch sparkles in the eyes (which gives a picture life). This doesn't mean the little white dot that a flash adds (which I HATE HATE HATE)...When I zoomed in on this picture I could see the sliding doors perectly...it made me giddy.

I am pretty sure I have the best little models ever, what do you think?!

The snow has been beautiful this week-end and I am slowly going through the tons of pics I have taken.
I found out yesterday that my "love" picture was chosen as a 3rd place winner for a natural light workshop. I entered it thinking she wouldn't pick me because lots of people enter so now I am torn. Its a really expensive class and I would have to pay 1/2 since I didn't win....decisions, decisions....

Now pics of Kristle and Chad....a VERY stylish couple who were such troopers and braved the cold for a little "love fest".

Weather

The weather is like a double edged sword for me. It gets me out of school tomorrow but chances are its going to postpone my week-end shoot. I was looking forward to seeing 6 month Silas. I took his pictures when he was 3 months and I bet he has changed.

I love this new preset (editing term) that I have. It is very vintage 70s. Probably not something that most people would pick out for a portrait but its so much fun and reminds me of an old Polaroid. I love it so I thought I would use it on some old pictures of Maddox I had. Its been so yucky outside that I just haven't fired the camera up this week. Hopefully I can make my way toward McMinville this week-end to do some pics...my head hurts from lack of creativity. Have a great week-end!

The Gates Family

Ok, Sorry....I know its been a week since I updated....I know the "mamas" look every day and I have neglected it ......sorry. I bit the bullet and started a fan page on facebook. As of right now I have 235 fans and I have booked into June....that blows my mind. I am so excited for the next few months. I never planned for this to happen but I sure am enjoying the ride. ....now on to the Gates family. I know Grok and Tara from high school. They just moved back to Middle Tennessee and she joined my fb site this week. She had NO idea it was me that took the pictures but emailed me and THEN figured out we knew each other. Strange how small this world is. This family is BEAUTIFUL!! They were fun, laid back, and we had a great time!!!

I promise I will do better! Wen.

My first shot at engagement pictures....it was so much fun! Newsflash..grown-ups are easier to photograph than kids. Heather and Dave were up for anything and there was no complaining at all...the only hiccup we had was we ran out of light (wanted some fun shots in printers alley that just didn't happen). Lee and Linsey went with us and together...they are trouble. You're not supposed to make the person taking pictures laugh hysterically or you'll have fuzzy pictures. Just so they are happy, here is one pic of them since they were trying EVERY way in the world to get in the pixs.

A Day Of Thanks

Today I am thankful for: No more fevers, Miles taking his first steps, my mom...who watches my kids and never asks for anything in return, for friends, and for friends kids. Luyce Clair was one yesterday so today we got out and took her one year pics. I was so excited to get out and take some pictures so I am also thankful for that too! She is ADORABLE...she sat still and smiled (so unlike boys). Happy Birthday LC!

Not a good idea

I love to read about photography and how to take the "perfect" picture. Photography is the HARDEST thing to learn and the more I learn the more flaws I notice in my pictures. I think photographers are somewhat critical at times by noticing the imperfections without seeing the true beauty of the subject. If you look at these 2 pictures of Cassie they are grainy.....I fight with grain all the time. Its called noise and its when you don't have enough light, which produces "noise". I trend I have noticed with some (not all) of my favorite photographers is they are using "noise and grain" as art. So, I thought I would embrace it a little. Here are 2 grainy pics...there I did it.....that was hard for me.

By the way....I am guessing it wasn't a good idea to start a new blog when I have so little to say. Its cold, dreary, Maddox is sick again, and I am itching to take some pictures! On the positive side there are going to be more posts because the weather is supposed to warm up, I am taking Luyce Clair's one year pics Thursday, doing 2 engagement sessions...(which I CAN'T WAIT for).... one Senior session (also very excited for), and a 6 month old session (remember the little boy in the basket/hat). I am really excited about getting my creative juices flowing.
